
Islamabad: Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi vowed on Wednesday to achieve major development milestones over the next two years. He highlighted that dozens of projects were completed in the past year and pledged even greater progress ahead. Naqvi emphasized improving infrastructure, traffic flow, and urban development as key priorities.
The minister said the Shaheen Chowk project was opened to traffic on the last day of 2025. He credited the Capital Development Authority, contractors, and related departments for completing it jointly. Naqvi called the project a significant milestone and noted that the decision to open it immediately aimed to ease traffic congestion.

Naqvi listed other major projects completed in 2025, including the Serena Chowk project, Murree Road underpass, Business Station Centre, and the Expressway flyover. He emphasized quality and durability in all works and said the government focused on preserving the city’s appearance while completing projects within scheduled timelines.
The minister added that ongoing efforts include rehabilitating damaged roads and deteriorated infrastructure. He highlighted Vision 2027, which will outline projects planned for the next two years. Work on the new jail project, educational institutions, and other government schemes is already in advanced stages of completion.
Naqvi concluded by projecting that double the number of projects will be completed in 2026. He assured that the government’s commitment to Islamabad’s growth and development remains steadfast, with major targets to transform the city within the next two years.
