Salman Khan quietly supported cancer patients for over 30 years

Published on: December 31, 2025 3:16 PM

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s quiet yet enduring dedication to cancer care has come into the spotlight after author and actress Vijay Venketesh shared deeply personal insights into his humanitarian work. The revelations emerged on the occasion of the actor’s birthday, shedding light on a side of Salman Khan that has largely remained away from public attention.

According to Vijay, Salman has been consistently involved in supporting cancer patients for more than three decades. She highlighted that his contributions go beyond financial assistance, extending to emotional support and personal involvement with patients and their families. Salman, she said, frequently visits hospitals, especially children’s wards, to meet young patients and encourage them during their treatment journeys.

In an Instagram post shared with a photograph of the two, Vijay recalled meeting Salman at Tata Memorial Hospital nearly 20 years ago. She wrote that Salman personally gave her his phone number and asked her to contact him whenever someone needed help. She added that he regularly updates his contact details to ensure that assistance is never delayed.

One particularly touching story involved a 12-year-old girl who wanted to discontinue chemotherapy due to severe pain. Vijay revealed that Salman spoke to the girl over the phone, gently motivating her to complete the treatment. Today, the girl is a healthy 27-year-old preparing for public administration examinations, a testament to the impact of his encouragement.

Vijay also shared that Salman often makes time to visit cancer patients despite his demanding shooting schedule. On one occasion, when a shoot was canceled, he suggested visiting a children’s ward instead, bringing smiles and hope to young patients. In another instance, he reportedly removed his gold earring and asked Vijay to give it to a young boy suffering from bone cancer in Meerut.

She further recalled how Salman once offered to bring his brothers along to check for a bone marrow match after reading about a girl in need of a donor. Concluding her tribute, Vijay praised Salman Khan as a rare figure whose compassion has consistently transformed lives away from the spotlight.
