
Pakistan International Airlines will resume flights from Islamabad to London on March 29. The decision ends a six-year suspension of the major international route. PIA will operate four weekly flights from Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4.
London holds historic importance as PIA’s first international destination and remains a high-demand route. Therefore, the airline expects strong passenger interest after years without direct connectivity. Since 2020, no direct flights operated between Pakistan and airports north of London.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom removed PIA from its Air Safety List on July 16. This step followed detailed technical audits and verified improvements in aviation safety standards. As a result, regulators approved the airline’s return to key UK routes.
Earlier, PIA resumed direct flights to Manchester in October after a five-year gap. Consequently, the London restart further expands travel options for passengers and overseas Pakistanis. The airline aims to restore confidence and rebuild its UK network.

Finally, the government concluded the sale of a 75 percent stake in PIA on Tuesday. The Rs135 billion deal ends years of stalled privatization efforts. Overall, the flight resumption marks a new chapter for the national carrier.
