The Punjab government has announced up to a 20 percent concession on early repayment of interest-free loans under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme, aiming to ease financial pressure on beneficiaries. This move encourages borrowers to repay their ten-year loans earlier, helping families save money while improving the programme’s overall efficiency and outreach across the province.
This decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by DG Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency Sikandar Zeeshan, following directions from the Secretary Housing. During the discussion, officials focused on making loan repayment simpler and more flexible, ensuring that the housing initiative remains practical, citizen-friendly, and financially sustainable in the long run.

Authorities also confirmed that the loan will be completely waived if a beneficiary passes away during the repayment period, while special concessions will apply in cases of disability. These measures aim to protect families from unexpected financial hardship and reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive and compassionate housing policies.
Under the programme, eligible citizens receive an interest-free loan of Rs1.5 million for a period of ten years to construct or complete their homes. However, beneficiaries who repay their loans within three to six years will qualify for the newly approved concession, making early repayment more attractive and financially rewarding.
