Lahore has been ranked the world’s most polluted city, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 260, placing the provincial capital firmly in the “unhealthy” category, according to recent monitoring data.
Certain areas recorded extremely high pollution levels, raising serious health concerns. The highest AQI was observed near the CERP office at 372, followed by Iqbal Town at 382. Barki Road registered 338, while Bedian Road recorded 239.
Other parts of the city also faced poor air quality, with DHA Phase 7 at 236, Abdullah Khokhar Town Road at 231, and surrounding Bedian Road areas at 230. Askari 10 showed the lowest AQI at 204, still considered unhealthy.

Medical experts have advised residents to take immediate precautionary measures. Citizens, particularly children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory issues, are urged to limit outdoor activities and use protective face masks.
Health professionals warned that prolonged exposure to high pollution levels could trigger severe respiratory and cardiovascular problems. They stressed the urgent need for awareness, safety measures, and reduction of emissions in daily routines.
Authorities and environmental groups are calling for stricter regulations and public cooperation to curb pollution. Residents are encouraged to reduce vehicle use, avoid burning waste, and adopt sustainable practices to improve air quality gradually.
