Punjab Safe City Authority has issued a strong warning to citizens after multiple complaints surfaced about fraudulent e-challan messages. Officials advised people to stay alert and avoid sharing personal or financial information with unknown senders pretending to be government authorities.
Moreover, the authority confirmed that scammers are sending SMS messages that falsely claim to be official e-challans, demanding payments or requesting confidential details. They clarified that the authority never asks for bank details, cash deposits, or account numbers through any text message, urging the public to treat such requests as immediate red flags.

Additionally, officials stressed that legitimate e-challan messages are only sent from the government’s official number 8070. Any SMS received from a different number should be considered suspicious, especially if it includes payment links or instructions that appear unusual or pressuring.
Reports also revealed that scammers are circulating harmful links that encourage victims to click and submit payments, after which money is illegally withdrawn. Therefore, the authority advised citizens not to open unknown links or use unverified websites, adding that all Safe City Authority services remain completely free for everyone.

Furthermore, the advisory explained that genuine e-challan messages always mention essential details such as violation type, location, and exact time. Citizens have been urged to immediately contact helpline 15 or the FIA Cyber Wing if they suspect any fraudulent activity, ensuring a quick response and timely investigation.
The Safe City Authority assured the public that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in using its name for digital scams. Officials emphasized the importance of staying vigilant, verifying all messages, and protecting personal information to prevent cyber fraud across Punjab.
