LHC bar sets biometric voting for 2026-27 elections

Published on: November 27, 2025 4:55 PM

The Lahore High Court Bar Association announced that its 2026-27 annual elections will be conducted through a biometric voting system. Officials said the shift aims to ensure transparency, accuracy and smooth voting procedures. This marks a major development in the Bar’s efforts to modernize its electoral process and eliminate issues linked with manual voting.

According to the schedule, December 31 has been fixed as the last date for biometric registration of lawyers. The Bar Secretary confirmed that only those lawyers who complete biometric verification will be eligible to cast their vote. Moreover, the association expects a high turnout and urges members to avoid last-minute delays.

Lawyers have been instructed to bring their original identity card for registration. Additionally, they must visit the Admin Office to complete all biometric formalities within the stated deadline. Officials emphasized that proper documentation is essential to ensure the accuracy of the voter database.

The Bar leadership stressed that the biometric system is being adopted to strengthen fairness and credibility in the election process. Furthermore, members were reminded that only verified voters will be allowed entry into polling areas on election day. The initiative also reflects the Bar’s broader commitment to adopting modern digital systems.

Authorities encouraged lawyers to begin their registration at the earliest to prevent overcrowding near the deadline. They added that timely verification will help maintain order and reduce administrative pressure. The Bar aims to complete all preparations well before the elections to ensure a seamless voting experience.
