A delegation led by Heavy Industries Taxila Chairman Lieutenant General Shakir Ullah Khattak met Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman in Dhaka on Sunday. They exchanged greetings and discussed new prospects for defence cooperation. The Bangladesh Army shared the details in an official statement.
The meeting highlighted HIT’s role as a major defence producer since 1971. The organisation remains one of Pakistan’s largest military manufacturers. Moreover, both sides signalled interest in exploring future collaboration through sustained dialogue.

The engagement came two months after Pakistan signed a historic mutual defence pact with Saudi Arabia. That agreement strengthened long-standing security ties amid rising regional tensions. Additionally, Pakistan offered similar defence arrangements to other friendly nations.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan expanded defence cooperation as Gulf states grew uneasy about US security guarantees. The pact followed Israeli strikes on Qatar that shifted the regional landscape. Furthermore, Pakistan stressed the agreement was defensive and would activate only if either side faced threats.

Regional defence diplomacy continued as Jordan’s King Abdullah II visited GIDS in Rawalpindi on November 16. He received a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s defence capabilities and production strengths. The visit underscored new possibilities for Pakistan–Jordan defence cooperation and showcased Islamabad’s growing military industry.
