
Pakistan recorded a 0.07% rise in weekly inflation, bringing the annual rate to 3.53%, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported. Prices of 16 essential items increased last week, with tomatoes seeing the sharpest rise at 57.03%. Garlic and sugar prices also climbed 2.6% and 2.23%, while bananas and tea increased 0.72% and 0.59%, respectively.
Beef, cooking oil, LPG, and firewood prices also went up, adding further pressure on consumers’ budgets. The report highlighted that 13 items became cheaper, and 22 remained stable.

On the decline, onion prices fell 12.38%, and chicken dropped 8.08%. Potatoes, flour, eggs, moong dal, and chickpeas also saw price reductions.
Economists noted that weekly fluctuations in essential commodity prices continue to affect household spending, especially for low- and middle-income families. Seasonal factors and supply chain issues were cited as key drivers.
