
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi praised his team’s performances after completing a series sweep against Sri Lanka on Sunday, highlighting a strong run for the country’s cricket. The win followed Pakistan’s recent ODI series victory over South Africa, marking two consecutive series triumphs.

Addressing the post-match ceremony, Shaheen also celebrated Pakistan Shaheens’ eight-wicket win against India ‘A’ in Qatar, noting the contribution of youngsters alongside senior players. “Everyone chipped in across the three matches, everyone played their best cricket which is why we won,” he said.
Bowling spearheaded Pakistan’s victory over Sri Lanka, restricting them to 211, while Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century sealed the chase. Shaheen lauded Rizwan and Babar Azam as the backbone of the side, emphasizing their crucial roles in maintaining team stability and performance. Babar had also ended an 83-inning century drought during the second ODI.

Looking ahead, Shaheen expressed confidence as Pakistan prepares for the tri-nation T20 series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, which begins Tuesday. “The team is performing well and all the players are doing well, which is good for Pakistan cricket. As a team, we’re ready for the challenge,” he added.
