KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement–Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar on Saturday criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Sindh government for what he described as the “destruction and devastation” of Karachi.
Sattar accused the PPP’s leadership, including the mayor, of neglecting the city while monopolizing resources over the past 17 years. He claimed that despite the powers and funds allocated under Article 140-A and the 18th Amendment, the PPP failed to transfer resources to cities and local governments.

The MQM-P leader alleged that the provincial government, feudal elite, and the chief minister had “frozen all development in Karachi,” leaving roads in disrepair and causing frustration among the city’s youth. He called for urgent federal intervention, warning that tensions in Karachi could escalate uncontrollably.
Sattar also expressed resentment over the exclusion of MQM-P’s proposals from the 27th Constitutional Amendment, specifically the local government amendment bill. He noted that despite prior assurances from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the federal coalition government passed the amendment without incorporating MQM-P’s demands.

The MQM-P continues to demand accountability and proper inclusion in governance decisions, emphasizing the need to restore development and resources to Karachi to prevent further deterioration.
