KARACHI – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday announced that his party will not support the 27th Constitutional Amendment in parliament. Speaking to the media before his departure, he criticised the government for including provisions from the previously withdrawn 26th Amendment in the new bill, calling it a violation of prior commitments.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman left Karachi for Dubai on a private flight and is scheduled to travel to Bangladesh to attend the International Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (PBUH) Conference. The conference is expected to host religious scholars and spiritual leaders from around the world.
Party sources confirmed that JUI-F’s decision not to vote in favour of the amendment is final, signalling potential challenges for the government in securing parliamentary approval. The party’s opposition reflects broader dissent among religious and coalition parties regarding the 27th Amendment’s provisions.
