
MUMBAI: Veteran Bollywood actress and singer Sulakshana Pandit has passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness. She was confirmed to have suffered a cardiac arrest, and her funeral is scheduled for November 7, according to her brother Lalit Pandit.
Sulakshana, the elder sister of the famous composer duo Jatin–Lalit, began her career in the 1970s. She made her acting debut in Uljhan (1975) opposite Sanjeev Kumar and went on to star alongside top Bollywood actors, including Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, and Vinod Khanna.

In addition to acting, she was a talented singer and worked with celebrated composers such as Shankar–Jaikishan, Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Usha Khanna, and Rajesh Roshan. She won the 1976 Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song ‘Tu Hi Sagar Tu Hi Kinara’ from Sankalp (1975), composed by Mohammad Zahur Khayyam.

Sulakshana Pandit also shared the microphone with legends Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar, leaving an indelible mark on Bollywood music. Her versatile career spanned both acting and singing, making her a cherished figure in the industry.
