PSCA launches live E-challan system in Gujranwala

Published on: November 5, 2025 2:36 PM

E-challan system in Gujranwala goes live
GUJRANWALA – The Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) on Wednesday launched the live E-challan system in Gujranwala, marking a significant step toward digital traffic enforcement and safer roads in the district.

Under the new system, 1,066 high-definition cameras installed across Gujranwala will automatically detect traffic violations such as not wearing helmets, driving without seatbelts, and using non-standard number plates. Once detected, E-challans will be automatically generated and sent to violators via mobile messages.

A PSCA spokesperson said the advanced monitoring setup will not only improve crime detection but also help instill discipline among motorists. “Our goal is to encourage safer and more responsible driving by enforcing traffic laws through technology,” the spokesperson added. SP Safe City Authority Gujranwala, Irfan Salhriya, stated that the system had been under testing for two months and is now fully operational. “From today, e-challans will be issued 24/7 without manual intervention,” he said, urging drivers to follow road safety rules.

Previously, traffic monitoring relied heavily on manual checks by wardens and patrolling officers, inspecting over half a million vehicles daily. Now, with the e-challan cameras in place, automated surveillance will take the lead, supported by ground teams for special cases. Authorities have warned that failure to pay fines on time may lead to double penalties or legal action.
