Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said the recent Pak-Afghan talks in Istanbul ended without any workable solution. He stated that Pakistan had made several efforts to reach peace but failed due to Afghanistan’s lack of action against terrorists. Tarar added that Pakistan will continue taking strong steps to protect its citizens from terrorism.
He explained that the talks followed weeks of fighting along the border and strikes on terrorist camps in Afghanistan. Earlier, both sides had met in Doha and agreed on a temporary ceasefire. The Istanbul meeting was meant to develop a lasting peace plan, but the discussions did not succeed.

According to Tarar, Pakistan presented solid evidence of terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil. He said the Afghan Taliban accepted the evidence but did not take responsibility. Instead, they shifted blame and avoided the main issue of preventing cross-border terrorism.
The minister appreciated Qatar and Turkiye for hosting and facilitating the Pak-Afghan talks. However, he said the Afghan side repeatedly deviated from the core topic. Tarar noted that Pakistan had shown great patience for years but could no longer tolerate ongoing attacks from across the border.

In conclusion, Tarar said Pakistan values peace and stability in the region but will not compromise on national security. He emphasized that the government will use all available resources to destroy terrorist networks and protect its people. The minister reaffirmed that despite failed Pak-Afghan talks, Pakistan remains committed to peace and the safety of its citizens.
