Punjab PAC orders probe into 25 irregularity cases from Usman Buzdar’s tenure
LAHORE – The Punjab Public Accounts Committee (PAC-III) has ordered a comprehensive investigation into 25 cases of alleged financial irregularities committed during the tenure of former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar (2018–2022).

According to official sources, the directive followed findings from the 2021–22 audit report, which uncovered serious violations in District Health Authorities, including illegal procurements, irregular recruitments, and inflated purchase costs.

The audit report revealed that medicines and medical equipment were bought at prices up to three times higher than market rates, raising suspicions of large-scale misuse of public funds.

The committee has instructed the Secretary of Health to complete investigations into all 25 cases within 30 days and to submit a detailed report to ensure accountability.

PAC members stressed that all officials involved in financial misconduct will face action, calling on the Health Department to uphold transparency and adhere strictly to procurement laws.

Separately, a Punjab Audit Department report — cited by ARY News — has also pointed to Rs99 million worth of alleged financial irregularities in government schools in Dera Ghazi Khan during Buzdar’s tenure.

The report accuses the District Education Authority of spending the funds on furniture and essential supplies without proper approvals. It further notes that delivery and verification records for these purchases remain unavailable, and the authority has yet to respond to the audit department’s queries.
