Security forces have killed 34 “India-backed” terrorists during multiple operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing said on Thursday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the operations were conducted between October 13 and 15. It said the militants belonged to the Indian-proxy group “Fitna-al-Khawarij,” a term used for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The coordinated actions targeted key terrorist hideouts across several districts of the province.
According to the ISPR, the first intelligence-based operation took place in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan. Security forces effectively engaged the militants’ positions and killed 18 terrorists after an intense gun battle. The statement said troops displayed exceptional precision and bravery throughout the operation. Moreover, several weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site. The operation was followed by other successful missions in South Waziristan and Bannu.

In South Waziristan, security forces launched another operation that resulted in the deaths of eight more terrorists. The ISPR reported that the exchange of fire lasted several hours before the area was cleared. Meanwhile, a third operation in Bannu district neutralised another eight militants. The statement added that sanitisation efforts are still underway in these regions to locate and eliminate remaining threats. These actions reflect Pakistan’s strong resolve to ensure peace and stability in KP.
The ISPR highlighted that these missions are part of a larger counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam. The operation was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. It aims to eliminate all foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. Security forces and law enforcement agencies continue to work together with full dedication. The statement reaffirmed that the campaign will continue until terrorism is completely wiped out from Pakistan.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, especially in KP and Balochistan, since the TTP ended a ceasefire in 2022. The group has targeted security officials, police, and law enforcement personnel in recent years. Earlier, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said over 10,000 operations were carried out in 2025. These actions killed 970 terrorists, while 311 army personnel embraced martyrdom. Despite the losses, Pakistan’s armed forces remain determined to defend the nation against all forms of terrorism.
