Pakistan army foils Taliban attack, delivers decisive response

Published on: October 12, 2025 5:16 PM

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar stated that the Pakistan Army delivered a strong and decisive response to the Taliban’s overnight assault, calling it a clear demonstration of the country’s defence capabilities. He said the attackers aimed to harm Pakistan under the cover of darkness, but their plans were swiftly crushed through precision counteraction. Tarar praised the military for its professionalism, adding that several terrorist training camps were destroyed during the operation.

Emphasizing the nation’s resolve, Tarar noted that Pakistan’s forces acted with remarkable restraint before launching an appropriate and forceful response. He said unprovoked firing from the Taliban side was met with a coordinated and targeted reaction that neutralized multiple threats. Moreover, he reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces have always prioritized peace but will not hesitate to retaliate when sovereignty is challenged.

In a related statement, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi strongly criticized Afghanistan’s role, accusing its leadership of repeated betrayal despite Pakistan’s consistent goodwill. He remarked that Afghanistan had “stabbed Pakistan in the back” every time friendship and cooperation were extended. Abbasi claimed that during the clashes, Pakistan’s Army took control of 19 Afghan checkposts after enemy forces abandoned their positions and fled the battlefield.

Furthermore, Abbasi warned that Pakistan would hold Afghanistan accountable for every martyr who sacrificed their life defending the nation. He accused Kabul of aligning with Pakistan’s rival, India, for short-term political and strategic benefits. The minister said such alliances expose the Afghan government’s disregard for regional stability and peace.

Abbasi also referred to the recent Phelgam incident, asserting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s firm policies had unveiled India’s destabilizing role in the region. He stressed that Pakistan’s leadership remains committed to defending national sovereignty and ensuring that acts of aggression, no matter their origin, will be met with decisive force.
