Pakistan army smashes Afghan posts in fierce border clash

Published on: October 12, 2025 12:25 PM

In a powerful and swift response, the Pakistan Army launched a large-scale counterattack after Afghan forces opened unprovoked fire across multiple border points, including Angor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baram Chah in Balochistan. The firing, reportedly aimed at facilitating the entry of Khawarij terrorists into Pakistan, triggered an intense military exchange that resulted in heavy Afghan losses. Several Afghan posts were destroyed, and dozens of their soldiers and foreign militants were killed as Pakistan’s defensive fire intensified along the frontier.

The situation escalated quickly as Pakistan’s forward positions, already on high alert, responded with full force using artillery, tanks, and both light and heavy weapons. The retaliatory strikes effectively neutralized enemy positions and thwarted the infiltration attempt by armed militants attempting to cross into Pakistan. Drones and air assets were also deployed to ensure precision targeting of hostile elements, making the operation one of the most coordinated responses in recent months.

As the exchange continued, Afghan troops reportedly abandoned several posts, leaving behind bodies and destroyed equipment. The rapid withdrawal of Taliban fighters underscored the scale of Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes, which disrupted their command and control structure. Several hideouts sheltering ISIS and Khawarij militants were completely dismantled, while multiple Afghan command centres believed to be aiding these groups suffered major damage.

Furthermore, security sources revealed that some Afghan posts failed to provide cover fire to Indian-backed militant groups during the confrontation, resulting in severe casualties on their side. The precision and timing of Pakistan’s operation showcased its readiness to safeguard its borders against any external aggression or terrorism-backed provocation. The use of drones and aerial surveillance ensured that militant hideouts deep inside Afghan territory were accurately targeted and destroyed.

This aggression from across the border came at a politically sensitive time, coinciding with the Afghan Foreign Minister’s visit to India. The timing has raised concerns about possible regional coordination behind the border hostilities. Nevertheless, Pakistan’s decisive military response sent a clear message that any attempt to destabilize its borders or support cross-border terrorism will be met with overwhelming and immediate force.
