The Senate session was adjourned indefinitely on Friday after a combination of road blockages and widespread lawmaker absences disrupted proceedings.
Presided over by Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, the session was expected to address critical national concerns, including the ongoing flood crisis, but the absence of key members derailed the agenda.
The sitting began with the suspension of the Question and Answer session, as Senator Kakar announced that limited time would instead be devoted to the pressing flood situation.

However, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) members were again absent, as they had been the previous day, deepening frustration among attending senators.
During the proceedings, Senator Saifullah Abro raised a quorum objection, prompting a headcount. Despite efforts to summon more lawmakers, attendance remained insufficient.
Following parliamentary procedure, the bells were rung for five minutes to allow members additional time to join, but the quorum could not be completed.

Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar attributed the low attendance to road blockages caused by a religious group’s demonstration in Islamabad, which disrupted traffic and delayed members’ arrival.
Though PPP Senator Saleem Mandviwala eventually reached the Senate, the required number of members was still not met. Consequently, the presiding officer adjourned the session indefinitely.
