
GUJRAT — Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Zahoor Ul Haq has called on faculty members at the University of Gujrat (UoG) to intensify their efforts in fostering a vibrant research culture, emphasizing the importance of meeting the performance benchmarks set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to enhance the university’s standing.
Chairing a high-level meeting organized by the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), Prof. Dr Zahoor Ul Haq — recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz — called for collective commitment to strengthen UoG’s research culture. The meeting was attended by deans, directors, heads of departments, focal persons, and senior faculty.

“Together, we can confront the challenges facing research,” he remarked, adding that timely achievement of the key performance indicators (KPIs) set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) could significantly improve the university’s rankings.
Director ORIC, Prof. Dr Audil Rashid, stated that faculty plays a pivotal role in meeting HEC-ORIC benchmarks. He noted that HEC’s 100-point framework spans areas such as human resources, research quality, innovation, commercialization, sustainability, and capacity building.

“With continued collective efforts, we expect stronger results in research and innovation next year,” Dr Audil Rashid concluded.
