In the initial phase, the company will purchase 65,270 single-phase smart meters, 50,000 AMI bidirectional meters, and 24,675 AMI smart meters. The procurement process is expected to be completed soon, allowing installation work to begin across multiple areas under LESCO’s jurisdiction.
Furthermore, LESCO officials stated that AMI bidirectional meters will be allocated specifically for the net metering project, enabling consumers who generate their own electricity through solar systems to supply surplus power back to the grid. This initiative aligns with national goals to promote renewable energy and reduce reliance on conventional power sources.
