Heavy to moderate rain hit the city early Monday, with the Met Office forecasting similar weather conditions over the next 24 hours.
Officials warned that windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning could damage weak structures such as Kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels during the forecast period. Citizens and travellers were advised to stay cautious, avoid unnecessary exposure to open or vulnerable areas, and remain updated on weather alerts.
The downpour began around 2:00 a.m. and continued for two to three hours, disrupting power supply in several localities. Following the rain, WASA Lahore activated its field teams and cleared accumulated water from roads within a few hours.
According to the MET Office, Cyclonic Storm Shakti over the northwest Arabian Sea is likely to move west-southwestward. A westerly wave is affecting northeastern parts of the country and moving northeastward, while weak moist currents are penetrating from the Arabian Sea into northeast Punjab and Kashmir.
Forecasters predicted mainly dry weather in most parts of the country, though rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas.
Rainfall was also recorded in Murree, Mandi Bahauddin, Mangla, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Sialkot, Jhelum, Sargodha, Narowal, Noorpur Thal, Joharabad, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Multan, Kasur, Gujrat, Okara, Attock, Chakwal, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Garhi Dupatta, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Kakul, Balakot, Pattan, Malam Jabba, Dir, Kalam, Dera Ismail Khan, Darosh, Parachinar, Bacha Khan Airport, Mir Khani, Peshawar, Chitral, Saidu Sharif, Takht Bhai, Astore, Skardu, and Bagrot. Shaheed Benazirabad recorded the day’s highest temperature at 39°C, while Lahore’s maximum temperature was 27°C.
