LILLE, France – Lille substitute Ethan Mbappe haunted his former club Paris Saint-Germain, scoring a late 1-1 equaliser at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Sunday in Ligue 1. The result allowed PSG to move one point clear at the top of the French league.
A much-changed PSG side looked to have secured all three points after Nuno Mendes struck a sublime free-kick in the second half. However, 18-year-old Ethan Mbappe cut inside and fired a shot past Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier in the 82nd minute. “Ethan has character, good self-confidence, and also qualities for the highest level,” said Lille coach Bruno Genesio.
PSG coach Luis Enrique noted the team’s fatigue after a midweek Champions League clash in Barcelona: “We prioritised the players’ health… It’s been a difficult week. After the match in Barcelona, we’re feeling the fatigue.”

Lyon Shocked by Toulouse
Meanwhile, Lyon suffered a stunning 2-1 defeat at home to Toulouse. Malick Fofana initially put Lyon ahead in the 24th minute, but Emersonn, the Brazilian summer signing, scored twice—including a 96th-minute winner—to secure the comeback. “It’s a cruel but not surprising result. We can never be satisfied with a 1-0 lead,” said Lyon assistant coach Jorge Maciel.
Toulouse move up to ninth place, while Lyon drops to fourth, behind PSG, Marseille, and Strasbourg.
