
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a rain alert on Thursday, warning that most districts of the province could experience heavy rainfall, raising the risk of flooding in streams and nullahs.
According to PDMA officials, westerly winds have entered northern Punjab, bringing widespread rain likely to continue from Thursday night until October 7. Authorities warned residents to remain cautious and monitor updates closely.
Rainfall is expected in key districts including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad. Showers are also forecast in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, and Toba Tek Singh.

From now until October 6, thunderstorms with rain are expected in southern and western districts such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. PDMA emphasized preparedness for sudden flash floods in vulnerable areas.
Authorities cautioned that Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat may experience a rise in water levels in local streams, urging residents living near low-lying areas to take precautionary measures and avoid water crossings.

Commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been instructed to remain on high alert. Key departments including local government, agriculture, irrigation, health, forestry, livestock, and transport have also been directed to ensure readiness for emergency response.
