The Government of Sindh has finalized comprehensive arrangements for the successful hosting of the 35th National Games, scheduled to take place in Karachi from 6th December to 13th December 2025. A high-level review meeting in this regard was held today at the Sindh Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, Secretary Sports, Ahmed Ali Rajput, Secy General Sindh Olympic Assocation, Mr. Muhammad Asghar Baloch Sindh Olympic Association, Sana Ali, VP Sindh Olympic Association, Majida Hameed, Associate Secretary Sindh Olympic Association, and the office bearers of the Sindh Olympic Association, where various aspects of the event, including security, logistics, cultural activities, publicity, and infrastructure readiness, were thoroughly discussed.
During the meeting, the Secretary Sports and representatives of the Sindh Olympic Association briefed that the National Games would be organized at 23 different venues across Karachi, where more than 9,000 athletes from all over the country are expected to participate in 32 sporting disciplines. The grand opening and closing ceremonies will be held at the National Stadium Karachi, which is being prepared to host one of the most significant sporting spectacles in Pakistan’s history.
Chief Secretary Sindh, while addressing the meeting, said that the 35th National Games will be a landmark event that will not only showcase the sports talent of Pakistan but also reflect the unity and cultural diversity of the nation. He directed the Secretary Sports and the Sindh Olympic Association to incorporate mass artistic gymnastics as part of the ceremonies to add beauty, creativity, and visual grandeur to the event.
He also instructed the Department of Culture to organize cultural activities throughout Karachi during the Games so that athletes, guests, and citizens could experience the vibrancy and hospitality of the city. Emphasizing the importance of publicity and creating a festive atmosphere, the Chief Secretary directed the Commissioner Karachi and Municipal Commissioner to ensure illumination, branding, and widespread publicity campaigns on the main thoroughfares, intersections, and public spaces of the city. He said this would ensure that Karachi fully reflects the celebratory spirit of the National Games.
Security arrangements were also discussed in detail, and the Chief Secretary directed the Additional IG Karachi to provide foolproof security for athletes, officials, and visitors at all competition venues, residences, and public gathering places.
Highlighting the Sindh Government’s commitment, the Chief Secretary informed that Rs. 500 million have already been allocated for the organization of the National Games, while more funds will also be released as needed to guarantee world-class arrangements. He reiterated that the Sindh Government is determined to ensure that the 35th National Games become a historic event, bringing pride to Karachi and to Pakistan. He further remarked that the Games will encourage healthy sporting culture among youth, strengthen national integration, and establish Karachi as not only the country’s sports capital but also a hub of cultural and recreational activities.
