
GUJRAT — The Institute of Hospitality and Restaurant Management (IHRM) at the University of Gujrat (UoG) celebrated World Tourism Day with enthusiasm, highlighting Pakistan’s rich tourism potential.
The event featured a poster exhibition, awareness walk and cake-cutting ceremony. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Zahoor Ul Haq (T.I.) the chief guest on the occasion, emphasized tourism’s role in driving economic growth in Pakistan’s remote and scenic regions.
“Tourism can bring economic transformation to our far-flung areas,” he noted, highlighting Pakistan’s cultural heritage and natural wonders such as the Himalayas, Karakorum peaks, Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa.
Students celebrated the day by showcasing the beauty of Pakistan’s tourist destinations through creative posters. Academic Director Ayaz Noorani stressed that promoting tourism is a shared national responsibility. He encouraged hospitality students to contribute through dedication and sincerity.
The celebration underscored the importance of tourism as a global industry and Pakistan’s potential to thrive through cultural and natural assets.
