Shamoon Abbasi Claims HUM TV Drama Erased His Writing Credit

Published on: September 27, 2025 2:11 PM

Actor and director Shamoon Abbasi has accused the makers of HUM TV’s new drama Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi, starring Wahaj Ali and Sehar Khan, of erasing his writing credits.

The drama’s official credits on YouTube and the HUM TV website list Syed Nabeel as the writer, Saife Hasan as the director, and Momina Duraid Productions as the production house. Abbasi’s name is absent.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Abbasi claimed not only to have written the screenplay but also to have coined the drama’s title. “I would like to thank all the audiences around the world that are liking my serial Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi (title also given by me) as well as my story and screenplay. The serial is being liked by a large audience,” he wrote.

He said he had worked on the project for four months alongside a writer, dictating “every scene and track” with the intention of directing it himself. Abbasi maintained that his name still appears in the scripts used on set and expressed disappointment at not being credited.

“This is a lesson learned — never give away your hard work to anyone without a plan,” he remarked, adding that his post was “for awareness purposes” rather than a direct challenge. However, he noted that he had the “rights and evidence” to prove his involvement if necessary.

Abbasi also described the drama as a refreshing change for the Pakistani television industry. “I’m happy that the project brought change in the stale, stinky drama industry that is losing its touch with cringe dramas everywhere. Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi is my thought and it proves that my stories are connecting with the audiences, Alhamdulillah.”

The ensemble cast of the show includes Arslan Naseer, Romaisa Khan, Sidra Niazi, Syed Jibran, Laiba Butt, Irfan Motiwala, Nadia Afgan and Tamkenat Mansoor.
