Nepal’s resigned Prime Minister flees amid deadly protests

Published on: September 9, 2025 6:40 PM

Nepal’s resigned Prime Minister fled the country after violent protests rocked the nation. The protests erupted against corruption and social media bans. At least 21 people died and more than 250 were injured in clashes with police. The unrest caused widespread damage to government buildings and public property.

A video went viral showing the Prime Minister boarding a military helicopter. Although officials have not confirmed his escape, reports say he is likely headed to Dubai. The military reportedly arranged safe passage for him to leave the country quietly. This development has fueled speculation and concern among the public.

Meanwhile, other government ministers are being moved to secure military barracks. This move aims to protect them from angry protesters. The protesters had attacked the Prime Minister’s house, ruling party offices, and several ministers’ homes. Security forces continue efforts to maintain order amid growing chaos.

Protesters also set fire to the parliament building, courts, and other government offices. The violence escalated quickly, showing the deep frustration among citizens. The government faced intense pressure to respond and manage the crisis effectively.

In response, Nepal’s president began talks to select a new Prime Minister. Authorities lifted social media bans to ease tensions and allow better communication. The country remains on edge as leaders try to restore peace and stability.
