Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the government to declare an agriculture emergency in flood-affected areas of Punjab. During his visit to Muzaffargarh, he called for urgent relief steps to support struggling families. He said the floods have caused widespread damage and left many without homes or income.
The PPP Chairman demanded that electricity bills be waived for affected families. He also pushed for immediate rehabilitation measures. According to him, politics must be set aside in this crisis. He urged unity and quick government response to ease the suffering.
Bilawal stressed the need to help farmers get back on their feet. He proposed subsidies on seeds and fertilizers to support the next crop cycle. He also recommended using the Benazir Income Support Programme for direct financial aid, as it had helped in past disasters.
He further advised the government to seek help from the international community. He asked the foreign minister to appeal to the United Nations and other global partners. He said the scale of the disaster requires urgent international attention and cooperation.
Bilawal emphasized that both federal and provincial governments must act together. Without joint efforts, he warned, recovery would be slow and painful. He hoped Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would move fast to help the people hit hardest by the floods.
