The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday suspended an order of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to cancel the allotment of ten plots in various sectors of federal capital and sought comments from the authority.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan issued a stay order on the petition filed by Omar Rana and other petitioners. The CDA had issued an order to cancel the allotment of plots on July 28, 2025. Ten citizens who purchased plots had approached the High Court against the cancellation of the allotment.
During the hearing, Advocate Adil Aziz Qazi appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners and took the position that the plots purchased from the allottees were transferred by the CDA to the names of the current petitioners after the procedural proceedings. No action of the original allottees has any impact on the rights of the current buyers.
He argued that the CDA did not identify any irregularity or illegality in the original allotment. Instead of taking action against the original allottees or the responsible persons, the CDA is depriving the current buyers of valuable property, he said.
After hearing arguments, the court directed all parties, including the CDA, to submit their responses before the next hearing and ordered that a copy of the CDA response be provided to the petitioners’ lawyer before the next hearing.
The court issued notices to the parties and adjourned the hearing till October 6.
Fake accounts case
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed the Accountability Court to decide its jurisdiction in fake banks accounts case within 15 days in light of NAB amendment.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the petitions of accused Abdul Jabbar and Najmuz Zaman regarding NAB jurisdiction in fake bank accounts case.
The bench instructed the accountability court to decide that under which court’s jurisdiction does this case fall.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro summoned Special Prosecutor NAB Rafay Maqsood to the rostrum and asked why this jurisdiction is not being decided.
NAB prosecutor adopted the stance that accused’s petitions are under process in the accountability court.
The bench said that we are directing the trial court to decide on jurisdiction within 15 days. After this, the case was adjourned.
Contempt cases against Shibli Faraz, Kanwal Shauzab’s
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday dismissed the contempt petitions of PTI leaders Shibli Faraz and Kanwal Shauzab regarding non removal of their names from travel ban list. The court dismissed the cases over non pursuance by the petitioners.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri heard the case and dismissed the same. During the hearing on the petitions, no one appeared on behalf of the both PTI leaders even after the case was called twice. At this, the court dismissed the petitions for non-compliance. Shibli Faraz and Kanwal Shozab had filed contempt of court petitions for non-implementation of the court order.
