The Pakistan Army continues major rescue and relief operations in flood-affected areas of Punjab. Troops are active in districts like Lahore, Jhang, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, and Kasur. Rising water levels have damaged villages, roads, and homes. The Army is working around the clock to assist people stuck in dangerous conditions.
According to the ISPR, controlled breaches were made in three locations in Jhang and Faisalabad. These intentional openings in riverbanks redirected between one and 1.5 lakh cusecs of water away from residential zones. As a result, nearby villages were saved from more destruction. The military’s timely action reduced pressure on river systems.
Helicopters and boats are being used to rescue stranded people. In Faisalabad, over 14,000 people out of 15,800 have been rescued so far. The rescued include children, women, and the elderly. Troops are also delivering food and supplies to affected families. Medical care is being provided on the ground.
In Tandlianwala, the Army has set up five relief camps, 18 medical centers, and six rescue stations. Toba Tek Singh also has new camps in cooperation with Rescue 1122. Victims are receiving clean water, free medicines, and shelter. Relief work is speeding up as more help reaches the area.
Flood-hit residents have praised the military’s quick response and strong presence. Many say the Army stood by them in their toughest times. As water slowly recedes, the Army continues drainage and recovery operations. Authorities remain on high alert as further rainfall is expected in coming days.
