Police have successfully solved a blind murder case within 24 hours in the jurisdiction of Jalalpur Police Station.
The brutal killing of an 80-year-old woman, Shamoo Mai, on the evening of July 23 sent shockwaves through Basti Lang, a village on the outskirts of Jalalpur. The elderly victim, who lived alone in a one-room house, was found strangled to death on her cot.
According to police, the suspect-identified as the victim’s own grandson, Muhammad Akbar-had forcibly snatched two gold earrings and a nose ring from his grandmother before attempting to find keys to an iron cash box. When the woman resisted, he strangled her and fled, locking the house from outside.
On the directives of CPO Multan, Sadiq Ali Dogar, a special team was constituted, which traced and arrested the accused within 24 hours. Police confirmed that Muhammad Akbar is now in custody and will face charges for the heinous crime.
