After the tragic death of actress and model Hamaira Asghar, rumors circulated that her family had cut ties with her. However, her brother Naveed Asghar has strongly denied these claims, saying the family was in constant contact.
Hameera’s body was found in a decomposed state in her apartment in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6 area. The police handed over the body to her brother after completing legal formalities and clearing the flat by court order.
Naveed Asghar explained that their father had refused to receive the body earlier due to severe mental distress caused by a recent family tragedy. Their younger paternal aunt had died in a traffic accident, and the overwhelming grief led to confusion.
He added that the family had been in touch with the police and Chhipa Foundation for three days, working to complete the necessary procedures. The misconception of estrangement is false, Naveed emphasized.
Naveed also shared that Hameera was independent and chose her career in showbiz on her own. Although her parents naturally inquired about her life, she hadn’t shared much about her living situation, especially with their mother, who hadn’t spoken to her for about six months.
Furthermore, Naveed criticized the media for focusing only on family rumors instead of investigating other aspects of the case. He questioned why the landlord did not contact the family sooner and why there were no CCTV cameras at her residence to clarify facts quickly.
Chhipa Welfare head Ramzan Chhipa supported Naveed’s statements, calling social media rumors “baseless propaganda” and confirming that the family never refused to receive Hameera’s body.
