PM Shehbaz applauds NAB’s crackdown on corruption, pledges full support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed strong support for the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) anti-corruption work. On Tuesday, he received NAB’s 2023–2024 performance report from Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmad Butt at the PM Office. The report highlighted major recoveries and progress across regional and national levels.

The Prime Minister praised NAB’s role in fighting corruption and pledged full government support. He said, “The dream of a corruption-free Pakistan will be realized.” Shehbaz assured that NAB will receive the necessary resources and institutional backing to carry out its duties effectively.

PM Shehbaz also directed NAB to speed up the disposal of pending cases. He emphasized the need for quick recovery of stolen public money and protection for victims of financial fraud. He said the agency must ensure timely justice and restore funds to those defrauded.

NAB’s chairman briefed the Prime Minister on key achievements. The bureau recovered billions in embezzled funds and reclaimed hundreds of acres of encroached government land. These gains were made during the last two years, according to the report.

The performance report further revealed that NAB concluded 700 inquiries and completed 218 investigations. It also filed 21 new references. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar was also present during the meeting.
