Bilawal Bhutto: Asim-Trump meeting a positive step for Pak-US relations

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called the meeting between Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and US President Donald Trump a “positive step” towards improving ties between Pakistan and the United States.

In a statement shared on social platform X, Bilawal emphasized that the meeting marks a meaningful development in bilateral relations. He noted that it comes at a time when President Trump played a mediating role in a ceasefire, following a five-day conflict in which Pakistan claimed decisive success against India.

Bilawal, a former foreign minister, criticized India for rejecting peace efforts and US diplomacy. He stated that while Pakistan neither seeks conflict nor begs for dialogue, the country believes peace is in the best interest of both nations.

He further said that military solutions cannot resolve Pakistan-India disputes. India’s strategy of weaponizing water resources and its repressive policies in Kashmir are unacceptable, he stressed.

Bilawal concluded by condemning India’s approach of politicizing terrorism. He said the only way forward is through honest diplomacy — not delays or denials.
