Russia has issued a strong warning to the United States, urging it not to provide direct military support to Israel in its ongoing conflict with Iran. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, speaking on Wednesday, cautioned that such support could cause serious instability in the already fragile Middle East.
According to Reuters, Ryabkov stressed that American military involvement would only fuel tensions and increase the risk of a larger regional war. He warned the U.S. against even considering such assistance. His remarks were echoed in a report by Interfax, where he stated that Moscow is actively engaging with both Tehran and Tel Aviv to calm the situation.
This warning comes amid the backdrop of recent cross-border strikes between Israel and Iran, triggered after Israel launched “Operation Rising Line” targeting Iran’s nuclear program. Iran responded within hours, and both countries have since exchanged further attacks, leading to casualties and limited damage on both sides.
Adding to the gravity of the moment, the head of Russia’s intelligence agency described the situation as “extremely delicate,” pointing to the risk of miscalculation or further escalation. He said the current tensions are not just a regional concern, but a global security issue.
Russia’s firm stance reflects its growing diplomatic involvement in the crisis. It joins Turkey, China, and Qatar in calling for restraint, warning that any misstep—especially with foreign powers like the U.S. directly aiding military actions—could plunge the region into full-scale conflict.
