In a powerful joint statement, Pakistan and 19 Muslim-majority countries strongly condemned Israel’s growing military aggression against Iran. The countries called for an immediate ceasefire and urged both sides to return to diplomacy. This joint stance came as tensions escalated since June 13, causing alarm across the region.
The statement, released by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted that Israel’s actions violate international law and the United Nations Charter. The foreign ministers stressed that national sovereignty must be respected. They urged a peaceful settlement of all disputes to avoid more violence.
Moreover, the countries demanded the formation of a Middle East free from nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. They encouraged all nations in the region to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). This, they said, would support long-term peace and stability in the region.
The ministers warned against targeting nuclear facilities under IAEA protection. They emphasized that such actions break humanitarian laws and the Geneva Conventions. They also urged a return to talks on Iran’s nuclear program, calling diplomacy the only real path forward.
Meanwhile, the G7 also pushed for calm. The group, including the U.S. and Europe, urged a ceasefire in both Iran and Gaza. This followed President Trump’s sudden exit from the summit after signing a revised joint statement. All leaders stressed the urgent need to avoid further conflict in the Middle East.
