BISP Additional Secretary Dr. Tahir Noor reviewed preparations in Khanewal on Saturday for the upcoming disbursement of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), which will begin under a newly introduced retail payment system from June 16. The retail model has been adopted to ensure safer, more convenient, and dignified payments amid the ongoing heatwave across South Punjab. Beneficiaries will now receive their stipends through designated retail shops after biometric verification, replacing earlier cash transfer methods that often required long outdoor waits. Dr. Noor inspected arrangements on the ground, met with BISP field teams and partner bank officials, and directed them to ensure full functionality of retail outlets, including staff presence, working biometric systems, network access, and visible awareness material.
