India opted for ceasefire after losing nerve to continue war: Gen (R) Janjua

ISLAMABAD – Former National Security Adviser Lt-Gen (Retd) Nasir Khan Janjua has claimed that India agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan after it lost the will and courage to carry on with the conflict. Speaking on Dunya TV’s show TONIGHT with Samar Abbas, he said India’s resolve weakened, which led to its decision to halt hostilities.

He further stressed the need to identify those behind subversive activities in Balochistan. According to him, some elements are working at the behest of India, and reaching out to them is crucial for restoring peace. “We must win over hearts and defeat the forces that are trying to destabilize the region,” he said.

Gen (R) Janjua emphasized that lasting peace in Balochistan requires cooperation from neighboring countries. “We must take Iran and Afghanistan on board for successful peace efforts,” he said. He added that ending hatred and promoting dialogue are key to long-term stability in the province.

Highlighting the importance of youth engagement, he said the future lies in embracing Balochistan’s young generation. “If you lift the Baloch youngsters in your hands, they will lift you on their shoulders,” he said emotionally. He also expressed deep affection for the province, stating, “I love Balochistan the most.”

In another significant remark, he recalled that former U.S. President Donald Trump had offered to mediate the Kashmir issue between Pakistan and India. He urged global powers to play a positive role in resolving longstanding disputes in the region.

In conclusion, Gen (R) Janjua called for unity, understanding, and strategic partnerships to bring peace and progress to Balochistan. He said addressing the root causes of unrest and involving all stakeholders is the only way forward.
