RAWALPINDI, May 20, 2025 — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed strong hope for the early release of Imran Khan, stating that the party remains firm and optimistic despite the legal setbacks. Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail, he said Khan is “innocent and wrongfully imprisoned,” and added, “We are not disappointed — Insha’Allah, he will be free very soon.”
He emphasized that recent developments have shown the nation’s support for Imran Khan, calling it a sign of a “great victory” for the people. Gohar insisted that pressure is mounting for a fair resolution and that the situation has gone too far. “Common sense must now prevail,” he said, urging authorities to end what the party sees as an unjust situation.
Gohar also denied rumors about political maneuvering or any planned in-house change, stressing that such moves are not on PTI’s agenda. He firmly rejected claims of any secret meetings or briefings with Imran Khan inside jail, particularly the ones alleged to have occurred on May 6. “There was no meeting, and Khan never mentioned any such briefing to us,” he clarified.
The PTI chairman reaffirmed the party’s stance that Imran Khan’s arrest is politically motivated. He said the leadership continues to pray for his release and that hopes are high it could happen this week, though he didn’t give a specific date. The party remains united, according to Gohar, and is focused on legal and constitutional avenues for justice.
This statement comes amid growing public and media interest in Imran Khan’s legal cases and political future. PTI has repeatedly claimed that his arrest aims to suppress dissent and eliminate the party’s role in national politics. The leadership, however, insists they will not compromise on principles or public mandate.
