Security forces have killed 21 terrorists during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in and around Miran Shah in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Military officials said the operations took place over the last 72 hours and involved intense exchanges of fire with militants hiding in the area. The latest success forms part of a wider counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist networks operating along sensitive regions.
Among those killed were four key militant commanders identified as Khalid Raza alias Salar, Muftoon, Musa and Imran alias Ayan. Officials described them as influential figures within the terrorist network who were allegedly involved in planning and directing attacks against security personnel and civilians. Their deaths are expected to weaken the operational capabilities of militant groups active in North Waziristan and surrounding districts.
The military stated that the elimination of these senior figures has dealt a major blow to the network’s structure and command system. According to officials, the commanders were among the most wanted militants due to their alleged involvement in multiple terrorist incidents. Security agencies believe their removal will disrupt coordination among remaining militant elements and reduce their ability to launch future attacks.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition during the operations. Officials said the seized material was being used by militants in activities that threatened public safety and national security. The recoveries also provided valuable intelligence that could support future operations against terrorist hideouts and facilitators in the region.
In total, security forces have eliminated 48 terrorists during the ongoing operations, highlighting the scale and intensity of the campaign. Authorities credited careful planning, intelligence gathering and precise execution for the successful outcomes. They added that the operations demonstrate the continued commitment of security institutions to maintaining stability and preventing terrorist groups from regrouping.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that sanitisation operations are continuing to locate and eliminate any remaining militants hiding in the affected areas. The broader counterterrorism effort under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy remains active, with security forces and law enforcement agencies working together to eradicate terrorism and strengthen peace across the country.
