KARACHI: Around 21,775 students appeared in the entrance exams for admission in Sindh’s medical colleges and universities, held at five different places in the province, organized by the National Testing Service (NTS). The exam in Karachi was conducted at the convocation ground of NED University of Engineering and Technology, in which more than 7,200 students participated. Dow University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor & Sindh Admission Committee for Medical Universities and Colleges Chairman Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy, Health Department Additional Secretary Aslam Pechuho and other officials visited the examination centres. Professor Dr. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements. In addition to Karachi, entrance exams were also held at Benazir Bhutto University Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad District (Nawabshah) and Sukkur’s Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College. Around 7,000 sat the entrance exams in Hyderabad; 3,205 in Sukkur; 3206 in Larkana; and more than 1100 in Nawabshah. Speaking with media at the occasion, Dr. Saeed Quraishy said entrance exams under the uniform admission policy across Sindh were a successful first-time experience. In response to a question, he said conducting the entrance exam at more than one centre in Karachi was administratively difficult. According to the NTS, all answer sheets would be scanned in Islamabad and official results announced on October 25.
