LAHORE: Election fever was at its peak in the NA-120 constituency on Saturday as party workers remained busy in corner meetings and danced to the tune of party songs ahead of the by-election, Daily Times has learnt. People of all age groups were seen busy in corner meeting till late night a day before the by-polls, trying to convince each other about which party to vote for. Party workers were seen exhibiting great zeal and enthusiasm for their contesting candidates and party leaders. Special sound systems were used to play party songs which motivated people to dance and chant slogans in favour of their respective parties. Workers of political parties were also seen having political discussions with local people, trying to win last minute votes and distributing food and soft drinks to people. They were making phone calls to their friends, relatives and colleagues, asking them to take part in political gatherings. Talking to Daily Times, a group of senior citizens, said that they had gathered to discuss matters pertaining to the by-election. A group of youngsters sitting at a food shop said that they were trying to motivate each other to cast their votes to the party they belong to. Meanwhile, speedy development was also observed in several areas of the constituency. Several roads have been carpeted overnight while out-of-order streetlights were also changed and load shedding was not observed a day before the election. However, several families expressed their anger over the use of loudspeakers. They said the use of these speakers by political parties to play music had made it difficult for them to sleep at night.
