Beloved daytime talk shows The Talk and The Tamron Hall Show have been brutally snubbed in the People’s Choice Awards 2024 nominee list.
The list of nominees eligible for the People’s Choice Awards 2024 honour for Daytime Talk Show of the Year went live on Thursday.
The list included Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today and The View.
Other series that received honours were celebrity-led series like Sherri, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“If you had to kickstart your day with one of these nominees, which would it be?” the social media post announcing each nominee read.
“Cast your vote now for your favourite Daytime Talk Show!” Fans immediately took to the post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with their favourite shows.
As the votes began pouring in, it became evident that there were two glaring omissions from the list of potentially award honourees. Both The Talk and The Tamron Hall Show were nowhere to be seen in the list.
The Talk is hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sherry Underwood. The Talk has been on the air since 2020 and has gone through a number of different iterations.
The self-titled Tamron Hall Show is, of course, hosted by Tamron Hall. It began airing in 2019.
There was no explanation given as to why those shows were not included in the list of nominees for fans’ favourite Daytime Talk Show.
However, both series have massive audiences and feature a wide range of different guests while exploring several types of topics. Of note, none of the fans who cast their votes in the X thread seemed to notice those options were missing.
However, simply writing a post on social media to vote does not qualify. Those who want to secure a vote for their favourite nominees for the award show must go to the People’s Choice Awards website and do so there.
Unfortunately, for fans of the shows not on the ballot, the nominees have all been finalized.
For anyone still looking to choose their favourite daytime talk show, they’ll be relegated to the listing shown on social media. The voting is done by clicking through a visual menu featuring all of the valid candidates.
Fans can choose the “Vote” button beneath their favourite nominees. There is a limit of one vote per category per day from January 11 through January 19. The winners will be revealed when the People’s Choice Awards air on Sunday, February 18.
