Sir: I would like to thank the current government for its brilliant performance. With an unstable dollar rate, excessive load shedding and record-breaking corruption, it has been able to stop the growth of our economy and industrial sector. Now that the international donor agencies and lending organisations have realised the level of corruption in Pakistan and have stopped funding us, the government has started taking loans from private banks. Funds, which are supposed to be used for industry and commerce to help improve the economy, are now being pumped into government loans and bonds. The result of all of this is that the local and international banks have stopped their credit facility to industries, which will not only retard the growth of the industrial sector, but will also cause many companies to close down, making thousands of Pakistanis jobless. And the best part is that all these government loans have to be paid for by the citizens of Pakistan (and their children and their children) in the coming years. HUMAIRA MOHSIN Karachi
