Sir: I watched live the interview of Samina Pervez, Director-General (DG) Radio Pakistan, on PTV the other day. She reiterated her resolve to strengthen rural broadcasting stations in the country. But I wonder why she had issued orders to dismantle the two KV FM transmitter installed for the PBC Chitral station in 2005. How could she impose a ban on the maintenance of the 25W AM transmitter installed at the PBC Chitral station in 1993!? It beats me why she had issued a directive to gradually close the PBC Chitral station during her short tenure in office. The DG should rather take steps to improve the working of the three KV FM transmitters and 10 KV AM transmitter. Farooq Ahmad Chitral
