MIRPURKHAS: Deputy Commissioner Sanghar, Umer Farooq Bullo launched the plantation drive by planting a sapling at the DC office. Speaking on the occasion, the DC underlined the importance of trees for a healthier environment and urged citizens particularly teachers and students to participate in the drive by planting at least one sapling and taking care of it. He termed forest cover essential for preventing the environment from further deterioration. Under the Green Pakistan programme, thousands of saplings will be planted at schools, colleges, government offices, roadsides and canal brinks, he said, adding that the forest department would extend assistance in this regard. The District Forest Officer said on the occasion that forest nurseries were working at Sanghar and Khipro and the same were providing saplings at concessional rates to growers as well as to citizens.
