LAHORE: The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) in an anti-begging campaign, has taken 50 child beggars into custody. This campaign has begun on the instructions of the Chairperson Saba Sadiq, according to a Child Protection and Welfare Bureau spokesperson. Different teams of CPWB raided various localities including Shaukat Khanum Chowk, Campus Bridge, Barkat Market, Moon Market, Kareem Block Market, Gulberg, Defence, MM Alam Road, Mini Market, Liberty Market, Mall Road, Model Town and Johar Town. Around 43 boys and seven girls of ages between five to 14 years were taken into custody as they were found begging on the streets. According to a statement, the children have now been transferred to the child protection institute and their parents are being located.
