LAHORE: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has voiced concern over aerial firing by merrymakers on New Year’s Eve, Independence Day, wedding ceremonies and victory celebrations. During a media briefing on Wednesday, PMA Secretary General Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad said, “We want to draw the attention of the government towards nuisance incidents of jubilant aerial firing occurring all over Pakistan.” He said celebratory firing often resulted in grief for others, killing and injuring innocent people. “Survivor of the aerial firing mostly suffers from paralysis. This is all due to the negligence of our institutions, which are responsible for protecting lives of people of Pakistan,” he said, adding: “We have already written a letter to the chief justice of Pakistan requesting him to take suo motu notice of the situation in this regard.”
